The main portion of the city is separated by about 60 feet, across three different levels.

Cody is a small city in Wyoming, but it is the 7th largest community in the state. There are three major neighborhoods in this diminutive community.
Meeteetse: This area dwarfs the other two neighborhoods and occupies most of the area in Cody. The smaller two neighborhoods are miniscule in comparison to this behemoth. From Meeteetse, residents can get the best view of Heart Mountain, a nearby destination for hiking hunting.
City Center: City Center houses a few of the municipal buildings. There aren't many residential areas in this tiny neighborhood. There aren't many businesses with the exception of those that deal with area utilities and local legal matters.
Big Horn Avenue: This area is sparsely populated. There are few residential houses, but there aren't any major businesses in this neighborhood. Most of the houses are older and have been around since shortly after Cody was incorporated as a city.

The East Gate of Yellowstone National Park is accessible from the western end of the town. This is one of the reasons why Cody is frequently visited by tourists. Also, Anglers come through town to access the Shoshone River and the Buffalo Bill Dam. The area is ripe for outdoor adventure, making it the perfect hot-spot for individuals who want to live and play near the great outdoors.
Cultural events and activities in the area center on Cowboy and Western history. There are numerous museums that focus on the areas, natural history, indigenous cultures, and antique firearms. Cody is also known as "the rodeo capital of the world", and this activity is extremely popular. In fact, many residents and tourists enjoy participating in Amateur Rodeo Night, available every night from June 1st to August 31st. There is also a Cody Stampede Rodeo that features professional cowboys from around the country. It's one of the largest US rodeos and is has been held July 1st to the 4th, every year since 1919.
Although the city is less than 11 square miles in area, walking long distances isn't actively encouraged. There are a few locations that feature amenities that are close to residences, but these are few and far between. Traveling typically occurs via automobile or via one the three local transit companies.
Like most tourist venues, there is a large selection of diners and restaurants in the area. Chain restaurants and four star dining establishments are readily available. Local and foreign cuisine can be enjoyed within close proximity. Whatever the taste, whatever the hour, there is something for every palate in this bustling western location.
Cody, Wyoming is an ideal location for someone looking for an adventurous area filled with outdoor activities and opportunities to meet people from all over the world. For those that hate cold weather and clouds, Cody is a veritable paradise on Earth.
