 Overview (edit)

Woodstock is a city in Cherokee County. It's the tenth fasting growing suburb in the U.S. with an estimated population of 21,482 2006. It's 30 miles north of Atlanta. An upper middle class area with a median income of $58,000, it was just a country town until the boom started in the late 1990's. Now it's a coveted area with good prices and a high quality of life. Roughly 67% represent families and the average age is 31. It's ideal if you want close proximity to the Georgia Mountains and Atlanta.

No one talked about Woodstock until recent years because it was a little sleepy town. And as the population of metro Atlanta boomed after the 1996 olympics, Woodstock became the place to be. Like many metro areas, it has fallen prey to the monotonous suburban landscape. However, there has been a significant effort to make the downtown area an attractive modern neighborhood with homes and condos designed for a community oriented lifestyle. Rental rates are generally less than in Atlanta, and the city is filled with young families. There are movie theatres and cultural events, but obviously not on the level of Atlanta. Generally speaking, it's not a bad place to live.

The People - Who Lives Here?

edit | history | top

Woodstock is a wonderful suburb to live in.  There are lots of conveniences for shopping like Home Depot, Old Navy, Super Target, Publix and many restaurants just 2-4 miles from many of the apartments in the area.  Downtown Woodstock has a cool restaurant, PURE Mexican Restaurant with a cool roof top bar to drink strong margaritas to your hearts content al fresco!  For hot yoga fans you will find the most beautiful studio I have ever visited right in the downtown area called Ember Hot Yoga!  If you want to visit downtown Atlanta it is a good 50 minutes south without traffic.  Awesome health club can be found here as well, Lifetime Fitness.  This health club is a resort actually, not to be missed.  Alta Woods and The Point apartment homes are a fantastic choice to call home.
