Overview
(edit)
Woodbridge is a medium-sized suburb about an hour's drive from DC (depending on traffic, of course). Located right off I-95, Woodbridge is a very commercial area, and many people visit here to shop at the popular Potomic Mills Mall. Woodbridge is also home to the Potomac Nationals baseball club. People choose to live in Woodbridge because it is a self-sufficient suburb, meaning you won't have to travel too far for daily conveniences. Rent is also cheaper in Woodbridge than it is in some places closer to the beltway. The area is growing at a considerable pace, with new housing developments and renovations drawing in more people. The town is close to the Potomac River and also has its own Amtrak station, making commuting a bit easier for people who don't want to drive all the way to the city. You would mostl likely need a car to drive to the Amtrak station, however, as public transportation is otherwise not a strong point in Woodbridge. Many apartment complexes may offer shuttle services, however. There are many schools in the area, so you have options about where to send your children if you aren't interested in public schools. The public schools in the area are rated high by parents, and are part of the Prince William County system.
