Overview
(edit)
Adams Morgan is known for its vibrant nightlife that includes some of D.C.'s most popular bars and restaurants. To live here is to be in the center of the action. Though Adams Morgan rivals neighborhoods like Dupont Circle and Georgetown in its popularity, the vibe here is completely different from those areas. The center of Adams Morgan is 18th St NW, where the brightly colored buildings and storefronts lend an air of constant activity to the bustling neighborhood. Yet Adams Morgan is also considered the heart of D.C.'s Hispanic community, and this can be seen in many of the signage, which is in Spanish as well as English.
Even though Adams Morgan is best known for its nightlife, the neighborhood has a lot to offer as far as restaurants and shops. Living here is truly an urban experience, and there are very few everyday conveniences you wouldn't find in Adams Morgan. As far as housing, there are a large number of apartment buildings, luxury condos and townhouses. The housing prices in Adams Morgan are a little lower than in nearby Dupont Circle, but there are luxury condos and townhouses available.

Even though it's somewhat of a hike to the Metro and having a car is tough, I definitely recommend living in Adams Morgan if you don't mind a very urban environment. There is always something going on in Adams Morgan, and it's amazing to be able to step outside and have dozens of shops, cuisines and bars within a few blocks. It's also close to more laid back neighborhoods like Woodley Park if you need a break from all that excitement.

Nightlife is popping!!!
rent is expensive, but the area is cool to party
Parking is very bad in Adams Morgan. If you want to party, take a taxi from the metro. Otherwise, you'll have to walk a long distance.
There are many apartments on Columbia Road, going toward Dupont Circle, that will offer a quieter atmosphere, while still within walking distance of 18th St NW. Parking might be a little better in those areas, too. If you're looking for a deal on housing, you should check out the north end of Adams Morgan, where it meets Mt. Pleasant. There are several cheap apartments there. This area is a few blocks from 18th St., but it's walkable.
Having a dog is not recommended. There is too much traffic and a car could easily kill your dog. Also, walking your dog at night might be dangerous due to the party crowd.
There is certainly a lot to do. From checking out the street vendors, taking advantage of happy hours, you probably won't be bored if you live here. It also borders Rock Creek Park, with easy access to running/biking trails and places to walk your dog. The neighborhood is also fairly close to the national zoo -- either a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride. The Adams Morgan Day Festival is a local favorite, and happens each year on the second Sunday of September. The neighborhood also has a farmers market each Saturday -- weather permitting. During the summer weekends, artists sell their crafts at the Marie Reed School, and this event is also quite popular.
The heart of Adams Morgan is 18th St NW. This place has everything that you'll need for eating and having fun.
