Warner Robins is a medium-sized city located in middle Georgia, 100 miles south of Atlanta and 24 miles east of Macon. it's in the county of Houston. Georgia's Govornor Sonny Purdue, is a native of the city. Roughly 58,000 people live there making it the 11th largest community in the state. The majority of folks are white, but it is very diverse and family oriented. It has mixed work force of both white collar and blue collar. Interestingly, it has more people working in computers and math than 95% of areas in the United States. The education level of its citizenry is slightly above the national average with 16% having at least a bachelor's degrees. In 1941, the United States Air Force established a military depot in Warner Robins originally known as Wellston, Georgia. The depot grew into Robins Air Force Base. It covers 6,400 acres and is Georgia's largest single employer. In 1943, the community of Wellston was renamed Warner Robins. Both the Air Force Base and the City are named after Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins. Two big events for the town were that Warner Robins Little League won the Little League World Series in 2007, And the Girls softball Little League won the Softball Little League World Series in 2009.

This middle Georgia town is relatively safe place with good schools. Houston County High has a particularly good reputation. Your money can go far here and there seems to a balance between white collar and blue collar jobs. However, the city lacks charm. There's not a very vibrant arts community, and there's not much to offer in terms of architecture. In other words, it's clean and organized, but not a real "looker." And you have to drive to Macon for any real entertainment with the exception of the community theatre that seems to have done well over the years. The downtown has deteriorated like many cities. But there have been significant improvements. The city is trying to boost it's downtown and attract businesses. Apartments and homes are reasonable, and unemployment isn't as bad as many towns. It's a decent place to raise a family, especially if you're kids want to be in the Little League. I'll give it a thumbs up. But to me, it's a little "dry" for my taste.
