Overview
(edit)
Located in the northeastern corner of St. Paul, the Greater East Side neighborhood is relatively a middle class neighborhood that provides a safe and convenient place to live and raise a family with most of the residents either being young families or retirees. The average home here is a moderately priced, mid-sized single-family home, and the area has just as many clean, spacious apartments that are also affordable. The neighborhood encompasses community centers, grocers, banks, restaurants, and easy convenience to both St. Paul and the neighboring suburb of Maplewood. One will do most of their shopping in this suburb as there is a mall with all of the major national chains. Maplewood will also provide nightlife for the Greater East Side residents as several nightclubs can be found along White Bear Avenue.
Aside from many commercial conveniences, the Greater East Side has many recreational options for residents including close proximity to Phalen Park, located in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood, this park features a swimming beach, lakeside activity center, golf course, amphitheater, volleyball, grill, paved trails, a pavilion, and more. There is also Beaver Lake and Beaver Park, Frost Lake Park, and Hillcrest Golf Club featuring an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, banquet facilities, and pool.
