Overview
(edit)
Shoreview is a lovely community 20 minutes north of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, halfway between highways 35W and 35E on Highway 96. The city's population is over 25,000, but you would never know it. The city feels much like a large nature preserve with houses planted on it, but it is far from rural or isolated. Rather, Shoreview is a lively community rich with natural resources--proudly boasting 11 lakes and 1,400 acres of parkland within the city limits. The city also offers multiple year-round recreational options, including an extensive trail system, outdoor skatepark and golf course for the summer, and an indoor waterpark for the chilly winter months. The city feels more like an "area" than a city - with no distinctive city center or downtown. Near highway 694, Shoreview is positioned on the cusp of the "inner" Twin Cities suburbs, and is home mostly to Twin Cities commuters, many of which undoubtedly take advantage of the lively urban center just outside of its borders.

Shoreview is terribly convenient for commuters, and is equally close to both Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Although the city doesn't have much of a distinctive flavor of its own, it is close to so much. In addition to Minneapolis and Saint Paul, charming downtown White Bear Lake is nearby and both Maplewood and Rosedale malls are within 15 minutes of Shoreview. Although you might not be able to get what you want in walking distance, if you live in Shoreview, nothing is too far away.
City Wiki
Mainly families live in Shoreview, those that are young and budding and some older families that have been there all their lives. The people are most, middle class, hardworking and enjoy the city and their families.
The social scene consists mainly of family restraints and chain restaurants. The places to enjoy a beer are the places people will be watching “the game” and having a burger and fries. There are no clubs and certainly no place for a younger crowd. But Shoreview is conveniently located near a major freeway to get you to the other parts of the Twin Cities for dancing and all night drinking.
Rental rates will be fair for the area. Prices will likely range form 800 to $1200 for a one bedroom, up to a two, sometimes three bedroom. The quality of life is good if living in a clean suburb is your thing!
