Money Magazine seems to think Shawnee's a great place to live. There are comfortable incomes here, the cost of living isn't too bad. Shawnee has good numbers with education-95% with high school diplomas, 39% with college degrees, and 12% have graduate or professional degrees. Renting an apartment won't cost you too much, $600-$800. For culture and arts, you'll have to drive into Kansas City. There's not much going on here. The parks and recreation department is organized and offers a variety of activities and well-maintained facilities. The Shawnee Mission Park and Lake are big draws for the community. If you enjoy fishing or hiking trails, this is a good place to hang. Overall, this is a good suburb for family life. It's not the most interesting and lacks in the arts department. Diversity isn't here either, so it's a little homogenous and drab for my taste. But if you want a stable environment, solid schools, and the suburban life, you'll like it.
