I love Savannah. She is my hometown! Left a couple of times, but always end up coming home. After living in Atlanta and Augusta there is just no comparison. Quick convenient access to any part of the city, especially with the southwest bypass and truman parkway-it is a quick 10 to 15 minutes. Traffic is only bad on Derenne Avenue during rush hour and I wouldn't advise leaving town at 5:30 via Abercorn Expressway headed toward I-95, but other than that, traffic is a breeze! Especially if you want to compare it to Atlanta or even Augusta during the Masters.

Savannah is just a huge melting pot of people and cultures. We enjoy music--O you must check out the music festival! It is usually in April and last for a full month or so. They have music to suit EVERYONE's taste. Various concert dates and times! I've seen nrytnagram dancers, Marty Stuart, cool young bands just getting started, along with some wonderful toe tapping jazz. You name it, they had it!
Did you say history? O my goodness, there are so many museums and ghost tours and walking tours, your weekends would never be lacking in plans! The Jepsom Museum is awesome as well as the Telfair Museum. The Georgia Historical Society has done wonders with preserving many of our original homes in the downtown area.
Shopping, do you like to shop? Well you hit the right spot, we have two malls, with everything you could imagine. Or want something more cultural, visit River Street and shop along the riverwalk. Or walk up to Broughton Street and shop in some of there amazing boutiques and stop for a bite in one of their numerous cafes.
Swimming, sailing or sunning? Hit Hwy 80 and head to the beach. Enjoy alittle New England flavor with our small cozy beach town of Tybee Island. Tons of sandy beaches with a great fishing pier. Check out the Tybee Lighthouse and museum too!
Did I forget to mention Octoberfest? A whole month dedicated to wonderful german culture. Riverstreet is transformed for these four weekends. It is a must attend event. And you can't mention one without mentioning St. Patricks Day. It is only one of the largest celebrations in the country! THe parade starts around 10:00 and finishes up around 1:00. But the festivities go on all afternoon and into the evening. It is the one day of the year that everyone here lays claim to being Irish, if even partially. And the dying of the Savannah River is a must see, as well as the greening of the fountain in Forsyth Park.
