A south-southwest suburb of Minneapolis, Savage is located 15 miles from downtown Minneapolis, but feels more like 100 miles away. Savage is truly its own little city with a small town feel that is densely populated by has a strong backbone for immense growth. Full of wildlife and nature, Savage is closely located to the suburb Shakopee, that has numerous businesses and major recreational facilities including Valley Fair Amusement Park, Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Club, Mystic Lake Casino, the second largest Indian-owned casino in the nation, and Historic Murphy's Landing.
With efficient transportation routes, the nearby Bloomington Ferry Bridge, and major interstates and freeways, Savage is conveniently located to a major metropolitan hub, but maintains a small town feel that seems has if it's in the middle of no where.

Many new, young families are moving into this area and live here happily as it's a fast-developing city.
Savage offers a few charming restaurants and bars, and some chains, but the major social draw is the nearby casino. Mystic Lake Casino is the second largest Indian-owned casino in the nation and offers not only gambling, but also six restaurants-ranging from high-end to coffee cafes-a full theater bringing in major artists and theatrical productions, such as the Blue Man Group, and a hotel.
Rental prices will be quite reasonable because it's so far from the major metropolitan areas. The quality of living will be very nice if you enjoy clean air and open space.
Traffic is very light here. The city is also very easy to get to from Minneapolis and St. Paul as there are several major thoroughfares and the Bloomington Ferry Bridge quite close by...these all will lead to Savage.
Residents of the City of Savage are also served by two public transit entities: Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) and Scott County Transit.

For entertainment, residents head to Mystic Lake Casino, Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Club, Valleyfair Amusement Park, and/or Historic Murphy's Landing park. Late August through October, residents can enjoy fun and frolicking at the Annual Renaissance Festival held on weekends in neighboring suburb, Shakopee.
There is also The McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center at Community Park that encompasses 10 acres of woodlands, marshes and restored prairie.
Certainly not a completely small town, close to Savage you can find a Target, Walmart, Cub Food Store, a Mills Fleet Farm, and a few major banking institutions.
Major employers for the residents include The Casino, Canterbury Park, Valleyfair, Seagate, a disc drive manufacturer, and ADC Telecommunications in neighboring Shakopee.
Due to its convenient location to downtown Minneapolis and still encompassing a small town feel with small town prices, Savage is growing! New developments are happening here regularly. For a new family looking to build, Savage may be the place for you!
Savage is in Minnesota, so the winters will be COLD! The summers on the other hand will be GORGEOUS and worth the pain of the snapping winds and below freezing temps!
