Located near several major highways, this diverse city has maintained the appeal of a small town yet affords many of the amenities of a larger city. The residents are a diverse mix of individuals, age and incomes. The downtown district offers retail shops that offer specialty items, restaurants with tastes for all to enjoy, and a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. The city's charm can be found as you enjoy a stroll through downtown: featuring brick paving, street furniture, trees, and blooming flowers. The city is often called the "City of Trees". For more than 20 years, the city has provided a tree planting program for its residents.
The area is known for its top rated education, 50 scenic parks and recreational activities. As its citizens say, "Royal Oak is the place to come to, not pass through on your way to somewhere else."

Royal Oak does a great job of balancing a family oriented area with a growing young professional crowd. Many new restaurants and bars have sprung up in the past few years with many pockets being quickly urbanized. If you're looking for a mix of space and nightlife, Royal Oak is a great place to live.
