Overview
(edit)
Richardson is an older suburb just north of Dallas, along 75. It is home to so-called telecom corridor, a technology business center with buildings developed around the four DART light rail stations. For professionals in the technology field, this is the perfect place to call home. Additionally, this is where University of Texas' Dallas campus is located, making it a great place for college students to live.
Richardson is a family-friendly area with most homes and apartments built in the 80s and earlier. Some parts of Richardson are dry, which can be annoying if you don't plan ahead. Also, there is little to no nightlife, but that adds to its family appeal. Since the city is next door to Addison on the west and just north of Dallas, you will find plenty of late-night fun.

If you want to live in an urban area, but don't want to send your kids to private school, Richardson is a great choice. Several elementary schools are rated as Exemplary. JJ Pearce High School is only one of two high schools in DFW rated as Exemplary (the other one is Highland Park).
