Overview
(edit)
Rahway, New Jersey is located in southern Union County, New Jersey. Just 15 miles southwest of Manhattan and 5 miles west of Staten Island, it is part of metropolitan New York. With roots going all the way back to the American Revolution (roots that include being the home of the first national mint to create a coin bearing the inscription E pluribus unum), Rahway has evolved into a city with great opportunities and economic development, making it a wonderful place to find a new apartment home.
Great efforts have been made since the early 1990s to revitalize downtown Rahway. New restaurants and art galleries have opened their doors, and the old Rahway Theatre has been transformed into the Union County Arts Center. The city is also host to a great public library, newly built in 2004. Along with these improvements, money has also been put into improving public transportation. The city is served by the Northeast Corridor/North Jersey Coast rail lines, linking Rahway with Newark, Manhattan, Trenton and the Jersey Shore. Nearby highways are Routes 1 & 9, and the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike are each located less than 2 miles from the city line.
For those who like to spend time outdoors and who love gardening, Rahway offers a Community Gardening program. There are many other organizations for one to get involved in, some of which include an arts guild, a chess association, a YMCA, Cub Scouts, a dance theatre, and much more.
Rahway apartment dwellers can find great satisfaction in calling Rahway home. With a lot of market-rate housing available, now is the time to find beautiful and affordable apartments in this terrific city, which is steeped in history.
