Pierre is the capital of South Dakota, as well as the county seat of Hughes County. Despite being a state capital the population is very low, estimated to be around 13,000.

Public schools are in short distance from virtually any apartment complex, some even within walking distance. Colleges, however, are located well away from Pierre.

Useful services, such as grocery stores, gas stations, dry cleaning and banks are all very close to most apartments in Pierre.
