Overview
(edit)
Pasadena is a city south of Houston in Harris County, Texas within the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area.
The city is rich in Texas history, as it was near the final battle of the Texas Revolution. Pasadena and neighboring Deer Park are known as the "Birthplace of Texas". After this battle, the area was established as farmland, and also home to a railroad depot.
Many native Houstonians only refer to the amount of refineries in the area, but Pasadena residents know that their city is home to an annual strawberry festival, the Houston Ship Channel, and the Pasadena Philharmonic Society and Orchestra. Pasadena is home to many jobs, mainly in the oil or shipping industry. Many other opportunities are available in the medical, legal and other notable fields.
New homes and apartments are being built each year for new residents moving to the area. The Pasadena Independent School District has many educational opportunities, and University of Houston has a campus located just outside of the city.
