New Bern is a beautiful coastal town that is growing significantly. In fact, the population has increased 25% since 2000. It has historic buildings and highly rated restaurants. Apartment rents in New Bern are manageable with one-bedrooms costing about $700-$900. The cost of living is very low. Unfortunately, incomes are low and the job market is bleak. Unemployment is 10% so you may not want to move here to look for a job. The good news is that if you come here to establish yourself and then buy property that could work out well with housing being a buyer%u2019s market. The job market should grow once this current recession is over judging by the growing popularity of this cute coastal town that was once the capital of North Carolina.
