Midland, Michigan is a city in Midland County and is in the Flint/Tri-Cities region of the state. Midland has a population of roughly 42,000 residents, however the population is estimated to decline because of the lack of industry in the area. Midland is approximately 19 miles west of Bay City, which sits on Saginaw Bay and is a great summer destination. Midland is 68 miles north of Flint and128 miles north of Detroit, both cities having international airports.
Midland is home to the Dow Chemical Company and continues to be the site of their international headquarters. Midland has over 80 city parks with over 3,000 acres of parkland. Most of the parks feature large sheltered picnic areas, swimming pools, playgrounds, softball fields and tennis courts. Midland has a very vivacious downtown area, which includes several restaurants, bars, and specialty boutiques. The Pere Marquette Rail -Trail is a 30-mile ribbon of asphalt that can be used fro jogging, biking or simply enjoying a nice leisurely stroll.
Midland offers residents and visitors the opportunity to relax and enjoy life while maintaining all the amenities of a large city. The cost of living is relative to the areas above average median wages, with affordable real estate and rental properties. The cost of housing is slightly lower than the rest of Michigan, making it an affordable place for a wide array of individuals.
