Largo, FL, located in Pinellas County , is 11 miles north of St. Petersburg and 10 south of Clearwater on the Gulf of Mexico. Approximately 75,000 people call Largo home. In the 19th century, Largo was known as a farming community with citrus trees and cattle ranches. The population and economic shift in Largo started in the early 1960's transforming itself into a "quiet, upscale community". Tourists and residents are attracted to the area for its excellent shopping, restaurants and outdoor living. Largo is 17 square miles and conveniently located between two airports (6 miles from St.Petersburg/Clearwater Airport and 20 miles from Tampa International Airport). Largo's largest employers are their two hospitals, Suncoast Hospital and Largo Medical Center Hospital. Outstanding climate and beautiful, white sandy beaches continue to attract tourists and residents to the sunny coastal town.
