Katy is a city located in Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller Counties in the Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown metropolitan area. The area is considered to be one of the largest suburbs of Houston.
The city of Katy is experiencing a major boom at the moment, with many new homes and apartments being built each year. Notable companies are making their home base in Katy, including Igloo Corporation, Academy Sports and Outdoors, and KBR. Katy is also home to many shopping opportunities, with Katy Mills Mall being a central point.
The area is also becoming easier to commute from, as Houston Metro has built a park-and-ride location for the thousands of commuters who go into Houston for work every day. School opportunities include Katy Independent School District and University of Houston Cinco Ranch for college. Houston Community College has also built a campus in the Katy area.
The homes and apartments are very affordable compared to the Houston metro area. Homes ranging from modest homes in established communities to brand new luxury mansions are available for rent or purchase.

Katy is one of the first choices for professional families in the Houston area. Schools are mostly Exemplary, houses are large and relatively cheap to buy and rent ($2000 per month would get you a generous 4 bed 2.5 bath). This is not a place for the Wild Child looking for nightlife though - almost everyone has kids and pets and drives a minivan or multi person SUV! It's family central! For a family though you can't go wrong. Great neighborhoods, safe and friendly, multi cultural and so many restaurants a common saying is "You can eat out every night for a month at a different place!" Two easy 'Park and Ride' sites and a couple of fast routes into the city make it the perfect 'burb. Come to Katy - you won't be sorry!
