Overview
(edit)
Jacksonville, a charming ocean town of 80,000 residents, is known as the "youngest city in the USA" with its average age less than 23 years old. Their youthful claim to fame is due to the large military population and support staff. Jacksonville is home to the US Marine Corps Camp Lejeune and the Marine Corps Air Station New River. Jacksonville apartments of varying sizes and cost are abundant throughout the water town (elevation is only 15' above sea level). Interstate routes 258 and 17 access this 44 square mile community. Four local airports, 4 high schools, 4 state parks, Lynnwood Park Zoo and the Elizabeth Lake Reservoir service the local community. History is deep in this 1757 founded town. All ages seem to participate and appreciate the two local colleges and seven colleges within 90 miles from town.
