Overview
(edit)
Fort Worth is the laid back, blue jeans and cowboy boots version of Dallas. Downtown is fairly well-focused and doesn't sprawl into neighborhoods, as it tends to in other cities. Among the top twenty largest cities in the US and one of the fastest growing big cities, Fort Worth has all of the culture, nightlife and industry one would expect from a major metro area.
Gratefully, Cowtown still has its roots, too. Twice daily a cattle drive meanders through downtown, teaching an important, living lesson on the history of the cattle industry. Not far from the Stockyards is Billy Bob's, the world's largest honky tonk. Not to worry, though. Fort Worth isn't all cowboy. It is very urban and hip.
The city is home to two prestigous museums: Kimball Art Museum and Amon Carter. Also, golfers flock to Fort Worth for the annual Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. American Airlines, AMR Corporation, Bell Helicopter, Ben E Keith, Lockheed Martin and Pier 1, all call Fort Worth home. The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best zoos in the US (#5) according to USA Travel Guide, and it is the #1 attraction in the entire DFW area.
