Overview
(edit)
Florissant is a second-ring suburb of St. Louis. At last census, the city had a total population of almost 52,000.
The town has the distinction of being one of the oldest settlements in Missouri, with the first civil government formed in 1786. The growth of nearby St. Louis saw Florissant become an inner suburb rather than a separate town.
Homes and apartments are a mix of new and old, affordable and expensive. Most homes are of new construction, and have all of the modern amenities. However, most new construction can be rather expensive. Older homes and apartments have been well maintained and can be rented at a good price, but may lack certain amenities.
Florissant is home to a few annual activities, such as the Old Town Fall Festival and the city tree lighting ceremony. The city is also home to Old Town, a historical area with many family friendly activities and shopping. Most major activities are unfortunately located outside of town in nearby St. Louis, a short distance away.
Schools are plentiful, with several educational options for parents looking to relocate to Florissant. Families have a choice between acclaimed public schools, or private and charter schools. Many major universities are located a short driving distance away.
Employment is also located away from town, and many residents commute to St. Louis for work. Although the commute is short, the highways do tend to become jammed during rush hour.
