Ettrick is an affordable small town with a rich history. It's fairly stable and has a low crime rate and an unemployment rate only around 6%. That's fantastic considering most cities dealing with 10% or more of the population unemployed. It's in a great location especially if you're looking to go to school. Virginia State has an excellent reputation and has been an important place in history as an achievement of African Americans. As far as living expenses, you can't go wrong in Ettrick. Apartments are very affordable and plentiful given the college town atmosphere. You'll pay around $600 for a one-bedroom place. Petersburg is just up the road for more restaurant choices, museums, and theatres. Overall, this is not a bad spot.
