The Research Triangle Park is an established development that consists of business and residential properties. RTP, as it is often called, is the technical and medical office mecca for businesses; it has been rated number one on many lists as the place to live and work. Home to companies such as DuPont, Bayer, and Nortel, these businesses offer great jobs to many in the surrounding area.

RTP was established by individuals in the government and education sector. They wanted an area to place businesses that would create revenue for the area. Now, it’s one of the biggest business sectors in the area. Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill and surrounding area are encompassed under the umbrella of RTP. This is the place to be for any individual looking to start a career or for the convenience of living in a fast-paced growing area.

 Hood Wiki

This area mainly consists of people who work in RTP, as well as Raleigh and Durham. Many residents are young and very well educated. There are approximately 1 million people in the area. There is an eclectic mixture of races, cultures, and nationalities. There are several subdivisions and apartment complexes surrounding the area. Many of the residents are executives, scientists, and computer programmers.

You got to check out the events at Koka Booth!

I moved from Pennsylvania and my apartment is so much newer, bigger, and cheaper.

Most homes come with a two car garages and a driveway.  The townhomes, however, come with one or two garages, and some do not have garages at all. Parking is not really an issue in this development due to the fact each home and townhome is provided with their own parking. In regards to public transportation, there are some DATA bus stops, but the CAT bus does not run in that area. Individuals can also catch a ride on the Triangle Transit Authority as well.

There are numerous apartment complexes in the RTP area, but they are very costly. If you do not mind paying 800 a month or more in rent for a one bedroom, then this is your place. If that is too steep for you, look into Durham or Raleigh. Nevertheless, what you spend in gas would not save you much.

I love the Camden Communities!

Homeowners can have pets with no problems. Various apartment complexes have different restrictions in regards to pet ownership. However, there are trails that you can take your animals out for a walk. Just remember to scoop your poop!

I love taking my dog on rides with me.  Most businesses like banks, CVS, and Dunkin Donuts pass out doggie treats at their drive in windows.  It's fun!

RTP is not far from the new Durham Performing Arts Center and the Durham Bulls Stadium. There is also the RBC Center in Raleigh, where many concerts and sports events are held. Many of the bars and clubs are located in downtown Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Durham is also the home of the Carolina Theater, which is the main site for film festivals and other entertainment events. Also, if you are an avid sports fan, both UNC-Chapel and Duke University Stadiums are only minutes away.

There are numerous restaurants that are located just miles away. If you are looking for fast food, Bojangles, Arby’s, and McDonald’s are in close vicinity. Dining in eateries such as Hooters, Cracker Barrel, and Georgina's Pizzeria are only minutes away. There are also numerous restaurants in the Brier Creek area, which are a few miles down the road.

This neighborhood is located near several main thoroughfares and highways. If you want to avoid traffic, stay away from I-40. These areas can get pretty congested during rush hour traffic. I-40 can be hectic as well, especially during the five o’clock traffic.

Also Highway 54/55 can get pretty congested as well, so you may avoid that road as well during rush hour traffic.

There are some grocery stores within a few miles of RTP such as Harris Teeter and Super Wal-Mart, which is located in the Briar Creek area.

Durham YMCA is located a few minutes away in downtown Durham and Raleigh has numerous gym facilities as well.

State Employee’s Credit Union, Bank of America, and Wachovia all have branches and ATM’s that are conveniently close to the park.

Whole Foods, Fresh Market and Trader Joes are all close by, too!

Great schools in Morrisville.  All have high ratings on wcpss.com and greatschools.org.
