 Overview (edit)

Dothan is a mid-sized city located in southeastern Alabama. At last census, the population was around 66,000 residents, though if you include the entire Dothan Metropolitan Statistical Area, the population climbs to a staggering 138,000 people.

Dothan apartment complexes are a mix of new and old, though older complexes seem to be the majority here. Newer apartment complexes are available, often at a higher cost than a similar sized apartment in an older complex. New or old, Dothan apartment rentals are extremely affordable, with the average price hovering around $600 for a two bedroom apartment.

Employment in Dothan is readily available, with a wide range of industries and corporations located in town. Major industries include agriculture, aerospace and technology, though jobs are available in virtually any other industry one can think of. Sony, General Electric and Michelin, among many others, have offices in Dothan. Many employers are located just down the street from pretty much any Dothan apartment complex.

With low crime statistics, affordable living and great schools, many families have chosen to call Dothan home. Dothan City Schools as well as Houston County operate public K-12 schools, most of which are located blocks from any Dothan apartment. Families choosing to send their children to private school will find no shortage of options there either. Several institutes of higher learning are also available, including Troy University and Wallace Community College.

There are plenty of activities available in Dothan that appeal to pretty much any preference. Outdoor types will enjoy public parks, hike and bike trails and golf courses. The indoor inclined can check out various museums, shopping centers and theatre. Major forms of entertainment include the Adventureland Theme Park and the annual Press Thornton Future Masters Golf Tournament.

Dothan, Alabama is one of those rare cities that has maintained its small town charm despite rapid growth. Not only is Dothan considered to be among the most inexpensive cities to live in America, but it's also safe, family friendly and industrious. Inexpensive apartment homes and readily available employment await future residents who would like to experience Southern charm in a large city enviroment.
