Wayne State University has a good reputation. There are over 350 programs including a law and medical school with 32,000 students. If you're going to school here, the surrounding hood is not a bad home away from home. Your apartment choices will be high rise living. And you'll pay between $500-$800 for studio and one bedrooms. Thus the prices aren't that bad, considering it's not a permanent arrangement for most people. It's relatively safe by Detroit's standards, which aren't that high. So be alert. There are some great restaurants in the area within walking distance. And you can usually find a decent venue for live music. One drawback is the limited number of grocery stores in the city. So shopping is a pain. Overall, especially for students or people working in the service sector nearby, it's not a bad choice.
