Overview (edit)

Preston Hollow is arguably the nicest neighborhood in Dallas, possibly the nicest neighborhood in Texas. With property values ranging from $800,000 to $40,000,000, it is certainly one of the wealthiest. Situated in North Dallas, roughly between Preston and Midway Roads and Northwest Hwy and Walnut Hill Ln., Preston Hollow is the home to former US President George W. Bush, Tom Hicks, Mark Cuban, H. Ross Perot, and many other influential businessmen.

The area is wooded and hilly but very urban. There are many shopping areas and some of the cities best restaurants, and the neighborhood's proximity to the North Dallas Tollway makes it an ideal location for commuting south to downtown or north to Addison, Plano and Frisco.

So where do the rich & famous people of Dallas live? Preston Hollow. The elite neighborhood straddles the North Dallas Tollway between Northwest Highway and Walnut Hill Ln. The streets, climbing up and down small hills, wind around posh estates where small armies of domestic servants make life manageable for the residents.

Do rental properties exist here? I can%u2019t imagine the neighborhood association allowing such a transgression! I think any apartments/condos for rent are not technically in Preston Hollow but just outside. The area is great but pricey. Most kids attend private schools in this area because DISD cannot provide the accoutrements that win over rich parents, making the cost of living that much greater.

The neighborhood is close to great shopping centers. North Park is a fantastic mall with beautiful art on display. There are unique and chain restaurants and shops at nearby Preston Center. The shopping center at Preston and Forest has a Kosher Tom Thumb and many trendy shops and restaurants as does the shopping center at Preston and Royal.

I actually like the area. Preston Hollow is quiet, pretty, safe, and a great location. It's not a great bargain, but most resident here are not bargain hunters anyway.
