Overview
(edit)
North Dallas is a large collection of neighborhoods, primarily contained by 75 on the east, Lemmon Avenue and Marsh Lane on the west, Northwest Highway on the south, and Beltline Road on the north. There are exceptions to this rule with areas dipping into Addison, Carrollton and Richardson. Shopping, dining and office buildings are an inetgral part of North Dallas. Additionally, North Dallas is home to many bars and night clubs and has a very active night life.
Generally North Dallas is a very urban area with nice properties and mature trees. Because the geography includes Preston Hollow and Bluffview, it is considered the wealthiest part of Dallas. However, this can be misleading. There are sections, especially along 75 and 635, that are at the poverty level. Needless to say, there is racial and socio-economic diversity in this region of Dallas.
Many businesses office in the areas along 635 and 75, virtually eliminating the need to commute. For those who still need to commute, DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) runs through the area, although Dart Rail only runs north and south along 75 at this time.

"North Dallas" is a very broad area. It is actually made up of many neighborhoods, including Preston Hollow. Generally the apartments are near the highways, and beautiful homes on large lots with mature trees make up the neighborhoods. The apartments vary in style and price significantly, from barely affordable luxury (near Northwest Hwy and Preston Rd.) to barely worth stopping to look at (near Central Expressway).
If you want to feel like you are part of the neighborhood and surrounding community, this area is not for you. Apartment dwellers are definitely on the outskirts. However, if you enjoy shopping and work in North Dallas, Far North Dallas, or Addison, then this is a great area to consider. It is boxed in by North Park Mall on the South, the Galleria on the North, 75 on the East, and Dallas North Tollway on the West.
