Corbin, Kentucky is a city in both Whitley and Know counties. Corbin is approximately 45 miles north of the Tennessee state border, 86 miles south of Lexington and 85 miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee. Corbin has a population of roughly 8,500 residents.
Corbin lies in the Cumberland Plateau region of Appalachia in southeastern Kentucky. Corbin hosts an annual event in early August called NIBROC. NIBROC features open-air concerts, carnival attractions, a beauty pageant, and a number of legendary bands. Corbin also hosts "Moonbow Nights" and the "Train Sculpture Garden." Although Corbin is located in two dry counties, some restaurants are allowed to serve beer and alcoholic beverages. Cumberland Falls State Park, the site of the only waterfall in the world to feature a regularly occurring moonbow is located 19 miles to the southwest.
The cost of living is relative to the areas below average median wages, with affordable real estate and rental properties. The cost of housing is slightly lower than the rest of Kentucky, making it an affordable place for a wide array of people.
