Overview
(edit)
Located 11 miles southwest of Atlanta, College Park is home to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It got its name because it was once the home of Cox College, where the city hall and other buildings now stand, and the Georgia Military Academy. The military academy is now Woodward Academy, a very prestigious private school for grades k-12. The city is also home to Chick-fil-A headquarters. There are roughly 31,000 residents with a median family income of $31,000. The city is in Fulton County and partially in Clayton County. Downtown College Park has undergone revitalization and is home to a number of restaurants and shops and conveniently located on the Marta Rail Line, which takes you directly into the airport at the next stop heading south.

College Park has an attractive downtown area showing great effort to restore historic buildings and attract businesses. It's northern neighbor East Point, could take some lessons in urban renewal. And It's a town where you can find some bargains in terms of buying a home. However, I don't recommend it for renting an apartment unless you work in the area. I would find something in the neighborhoods located near and around Woodward Academy. There are restored homes and beautiful parks. But when you head down Riverdale road, it's all down hill. Also, College Park has one of highest crime rates in the Atlanta Metro area. Roughly 20% of residents live below the poverty line. There have been more middle class professionals moving to the area in the last 5 or so years. But much is needed to make this place safe.
