City Wiki
The median age of residents is 37.1 years old, while the median income is $45,000.00. Casselberry is a very pleasant place to live due to the convenience of every need being met through it's close relation to all the surrounding cities' connections, including Orlando. The local small businesses gain a great deal of retail sales as residents of several cities must pass through Casselberry on their way to work, home, the airport, doctors, etc. This provides a large amount of traffic for business to draw from and use their creativity to draw them to the front door.
One can find bars and clubs in high numbers, but especially so in the 17-92 roadway area. It's a main road for travel through the city and with high traffic, also comes high numbers of hang outs. Aloma Ave. is another high traffic, main artery and is much safer to hit the clubs and bars.
The restaurants are plenteous in all areas, however the Aloma Ave area has some of the most diverse as well as excellent dining for all different price levels. You'll enjoy high end dining right through fast food. There are places such as Ruby Tuesday's, Chili's, etc for restaurants that also serve as a bar. These are highly popular for groups of friends to hang out for food and drinks before moving on to clubs for dancing.
The prices for the area would be considered an equal balance and average for the area Casselberry is situated in. Rental homes are of course much higher and the newest apartment complexes are built more as apartment homes which rent for much cheaper that a house. So in that respect, if you enjoy having all your yard work done, the landscape making your apartment look award winning, and any necessary repairs done for you by maintenance, for a cheaper prices than a home, then your price vs. quality of living is more than equaled out in the balance of the scales. If you rent a home you must have specific needs & goals to accomplish for this to balance for you, such as a white collar job that is in need of entertaining clients regularly.
The traffic is high for the area as it is a drive-thru to several cities. Particularly the times people are going to work and the times they're coming him, and since work times vary by several hours as to when their shifts ends, it mean heavy traffic for hours every day. That is one reason that more people set up car pools as well as use the public transportation busing system.
It is a good idea to insist on seeing the actual unit you'll be renting. Some apartment comunities use the practice of showing you a beautifully decorated unit with perfect carpeting & appliances, etc, only to rent you a unit sight unseen that ends up with stained or dyed carpet to hide the stains, rusty or yellowed appliances, etc. There are too many good apartments that are willing to show you the quality of an empty unit as they're on the up and up.
A favorite for the sports buffs, both adults and youth is the batting cages there. Family parks are plentiful as are the kids restaurants such as "Chucky Cheese." In fact there are 16 parks and 20 lakes. spattered throughout the city. On the adult front there is the excitement of dog racing and Ja'lai to add to your weekly activities.
There are many apartment communities scattered throughout Casselberry. Some communities are in better areas and nicer amenities. You'll want to stay away from the area where the dog racing & Ja'lai is. 434 and 17-92 has a great apartment community which is close to everything.
Grocery stores can be found at almost every intersection it would seem. Competition between the store chains is high and therefore benefits the citizens that shop at them. There are also the "Super Center Walmart" which is in a class by itself.
Gyms are very popular, especially with the hot months in which it's not healthy to have vigorous exorcise. Competition spurs constant specials being run by several of the gyms that can greatly reduce your monthly or yearly costs.
Florida is the land of banks o plenty. You have access to local banks, national, and credit unions to provide you with your personal preference in bank types.
Employment is strong here, particularly in the retail industry. Restaurants are often greatly in need of quality workers both as laborers and management. Service jobs, both with guaranteed pay and commission based jobs are also open ended with job opportunities, due to the constant influx of the ebb and flow of people moving in and out of Central Florida to other areas they find more attractive in different Florida areas.
All of the elementary and middle schools in Casselberry have been moved up into the A rated category for the Florida school grading system. Schools are graded based on the FCAT scores which gives an insight to how well the teacher was able to stir the students knowledge and therefor the grading is based both on the students successes along with the teachers. Casselberry has risen in stature of grading for the past couple of years. There is no high school within the city and students are therefor bussed to high schools in other areas, deepening on where they live.
There is a college in the city as well along the "Paul Mitchell the School." which is a college of Cosmetology. Several other colleges of various types are close by in other cities, but easy access makes for practical travel to them.
The apartments are plentiful and there are upper class, middle class, and many low-income, section "8" complexes. Price ranges are average for the area: $650.00-$1,275.00. There are a few above that but, the highest rents are those for private home rentals which usually begin t $3,000.00. There is currently no shortage of housing whether for rent or for sale.
Year round weather does not have a major fluctuation as do the winter states. Summer is low to mid 90's while winter hovers in between 50-70 degrees, with a small chance for a couple of freezes during the winter months. A freeze means you'll have to protect your outdoor foliage with blankets heating pots. Planning for a freeze should keep your plants safe. As far as the summer months, the heat may be low 90's but due to the heat index with humidity it can feel several degrees hotter to your body and care should be taken with physical activity such as jogging. It can be easy to collapse and extra water must be consumed to help protect from dehydration.
