 Overview (edit)

Buffalo is located on the eastern end of Lake Erie and referred to as the Queen City, second only to the king - New York City. Also known as the City of Trees due to its extensive park system, (over 20 in all), Buffalo is closely associated with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. The city is equally proud of its historic district and the contribution of Frank Lloyd Wright creations to the community. Buffalo had its roots in commerce, shipping, steel manufacturing, and transportation (railroad and trucking). However, the greater Buffalo area is now moving toward a mix of light manufacturing, high technology and service-oriented private sector companies. Currently the Buffalo Waterfront Corridor Initiative is developing a large portion of the Lake Erie waterfront into a recreational activity area for its residents and visitors to enjoy.
Buffalo is a large geographical area and consists of 32 diverse neighborhoods. One of the communities, Elmwood Village was ranked the third best neighborhood in America. The city is pedestrian-oriented, has many mixed use neighborhoods with hundreds of small, locally owned shops, restaurants, and cafes.
