Overview
(edit)
The Triangle State neighborhood of Austin is a great, small neighborhood centrally located and surrounded by other fun Austin neighborhoods. It is bordered by Lamar Boulevard, W. 38th Street, Guadalupe Street, W. 46th St, Rowena St. and W. 51st St. For years, the bulk of this neighborhood was taken up with an empty, abandoned triangular field. Though many residents used the field for recreational purposes, the neighborhood got a big addition a few years ago with the building of the Triangle development, featuring apartments, retail stores, restaurants and green space. Much of the rest of the neighborhood is taken up by the Heart Hospital of Austin and the Austin State Hospital. As mentioned, this neighborhood is quite small, and many of the residential housing options are either the apartments of the Triangle development or the few houses or smaller apartments on the streets on the edge of the neighborhood. But, because of the hospitals and the businesses available in the neighborhood, many jobs and sources of entertainment exist. The weekly farmer's market that has recently opened within the Triangle development is a community favorite event. A pretty safe neighborhood, this area is close to the Hyde Park, North Loop, and even Brentwood neighborhoods. Triangle State is also a relatively close drive to both the University of Texas and downtown.
