Overview (edit)

French Place is nestled in between Airport Boulevard and Manor Road. Vibrant with its electic personality, proximity to I35 and the UT campus, French Place has always been a hotspot for locals. With recent expansion and growth throughout the neighborhood it's become a desirable place to live. Quaint homes with ample yards and great opportunities for "starter homes" in an unique area make it a popular place for young couples, single home dwellers and students. French Place's homes are usually no more than 2-3 bedrooms, many have interesting add-on featuares making them desirable for roommates and extra living space. Mostly composed of small homes, bungalows and a few apartment complexes throughout the neighborhood it offers a rich, diverse, "old Austin" charm that many of the other central Austin neighborhoods seem to lack or have lost as they've grown up and become more polished.  French Place has its own buzzing local commerical district and its proximity to UT keeps the neighborhood fresh. Originally owned by the Giles Family, development began in the 1940s and then rapidly took off in the 1980s.

 Hood Wiki

Because of it's proximity to the University of Texas campus, many students, undergraudate and graduate tend to call French Place home... and it shows. With eclectic coffeehouses, venues and restaruants, it's always hopping. Others that you'll find in the neighborhood include young couples purchasing their very first home, single professionals and long-time local Austinites that have coveted French Place as "the" neighborhood central enough to the city center without being in the mix of the hub bub and allowing fo a diversity of students, artists and professionals alike.
