Northern and central Scottsdale have seen a lot of growth in the last 5-10 years with new housing and business developments. The southwest area of town is showing its age, but still offers decent housing. Rents here will be more affordable. Employment can be found in just about every sector here, from professional services to fast-food. Traffic on surface streets can be an issue because Scottsdale is a busy place and public transportation, while available, is pretty much useless. The Loop 101 Freeway offers quick access to and from nearby Phoenix and Tempe. Entertainment and activities abound here in all forms. The younger set parties on 5th Avenue in the Downtown area, which is rife with dance clubs. Others frequent tapas bars and other upscale lounges in North Scottsdale. Scottsdale has 51 golf courses within its city limits. It is host to the world famous Barrett-Jackson Car Auction, the FBR Open, The Scottsdale Arts Festival and the PF Chang Rock and Roll Marathon. It\'s not unheard of to run into a celebrity while shopping or attending local events and hot spots.
