City Guide for St. Augustine Shores, FL

When developers first began "adding character" to the St. Augustine Shores community in the late 1960s and early 1970s, 58 acres were set aside for parks and 45 acres for recreational sites along the Intercoastal Waterway. Still today, this is an outdoor recreation lover's paradise, with more than 150 miles of bike paths and 14 lake and ponds. Not to mention the St. Augustine Shores Golf Club, which is one of the top recreation destinations in this part of Florida.

St. Augustine Shores is a city of approximately 7,359 residents (2010 U.S. Census data) along the northeastern coast of Florida. Compared to the rest of the country, the cost of living here is about 7 percent lower than the national average, which is a nice surprise for a coastal city. In this community, you can take advantage of the 12,000-square-foot recreation building along the waterway, the 180,000-gallon pool, 500-foot pier with a gazebo, and a private golf course suitable for all skill levels. Although St. Augustine Shores is located less than five miles from St. Augustine, the oldest permanent settlement in North America, the buildings here have only been around since around the 1970s. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with hardwood floors in St. Augustine Shores, FL

Scoring an apartment with hardwood floors can be a big win for St. Augustine Shores renters. They`re typically a beautiful addition to your space. They’re also easier to clean and sweep, particularly if you have pets.

However, there are some downsides. Hardwood floors carry sounds. They can also make your apartment noisy for your roommates and downstairs neighbors.

Ask the landlord or property manager about the hardwood floors before signing a lease. Are they actually hardwood or a popular composite alternative? The latter is probably easier to clean and care for than the real thing.

It’s also important to ask about who’s responsible for any damage to the floors and what that entails. Your security deposit could take a hit from scratches, dents, and other damage.

Consider the type of climate you live in. Hardwood floors typically don’t fare well in damp climates full of moisture. Stains and buckling are common in hardwood floors after rain flooding or excessive moisture.

However, hardwood floors can be ideal for dry climates or sunny areas for renters who love the way they look.
